Historia Regem
Thaddeus Germanicus, known as The Avenging Son following his ascension, is the Primarch of the Ultima Legion. An accomplished warlord and diplomat who rules his own great kingdom, Thaddeus is unique among his brother Primarchs in that he saw himself as not only a warrior but also a builder of civilizations. In addition to his leadership of the largest and most successful Adeptus Astarte Legion, Thaddeus is immensely renowned for his efforts to preserve the Imperium that spreads all over the omniverse that is Creation, he became Warmaster of the Imperium. Among his most noteworthy achievements is the authoring of the Codex Astartes and the creation of the modern Imperial military structure.
His History:
His home was under siege by cutthroat bandits. Their intentions were clear: kill, rape, and steal everything from the populace. Thaddeus and his father were tending the fields when the attackers broke through the village gates. The two set their sights on their home, returning in time to watch Martha being beheaded, and then Jonson taking various sword blows to his person. Thaddeus only survived due to his small size, and being quick on his feet.
Unknowing of anything outside his world, the young boy prayed. Hiding underneath a carriage, the young boy watched as his world was torn down and set ablaze, and when all hope seemed lost, the angels came. Giants clad in beautifully ornate bulks of armor swept through the village with unimaginable speed. Thaddeus couldn’t process the sight he was beholding. When he was discovered by the commanding force, he was only able to peer into the face of the warrior. Leonidas was his name, and Thaddeus soon fainted before his very gaze.
The Makings of A King.
After rising through the ranks of the Legion, Thaddeus was made captain on his 300th year serving under the Captain-General Leonidas. The Primarch at the time, Roboute Guilliman, had heard the many great tales of the promising Thaddeus. Lord Guilliman was the progenitor of the entire XIIIth Legion; his God-Titan blood flowed through every vein of the Ultramarines. Thaddeus respected such power within him, and would go on to prove that very power.
As Captain, the matured Lion was given the task of making a system of worlds compliant for the cause of the Imperial Truth. Thaddeus his legion of ten thousand warrior kings were set off on their greatest quest to date. Leonidas accompanied him, who he now seen Thaddeus as his close brother and friend.
For 500 years, the pair brought over a hundred worlds into the flock of the Imperium. On the closing edge of the crusade, Thaddeus and Leonidas were facing their greatest challenge yet. A vile daemon of Chaos had taken possession of a world once beautiful, and known for its many gardens. Its populace sacrificed up to its god, and the daemon known as Dragium was threatening the other worlds.
Thaddeus and Leonidas took their forces to the world of Belle Primus where the daemon took refuge. Descending in pods of adamantium, like steel rain did the angels descend upon the tainted world. From battlefield to battlefield the two companions led their forces across miles of destruction, despair, and trial. A whole century had passed, and alas the war was coming to an end. With their forces exhausted, and only down to a few hundred, the two battle-brothers continued what was left to fight the greater daemon.
Dragium was located within the confines of a battle-fortress that had been built into the side of a dormant volcano. Through miles of tunnels, chambers, and great halls the remaining forces fought. Ammunition had long been dried up, only using sword and fist to fight now. Leonidas was the first to reach the greater daemon’s inner sanctum, and had the honor to fight it first as Thaddeus soon followed behind.
Back and forth, the battle-brothers traded blows the mighty winged monstrosity. Blow for blow, the two companions fought hard with every tooth and nail. Finally, dealing the daemon a mortal blow, the battle seemed won. The daemon was to be banished by their hands, but not before Dragium snatched Leonidas as it was dragged back to the immaterial.
Leonidas with his last bit of transhuman, demigod strength tossed his great sword, Lucid Lion, to Thaddeus. Shouting as he was sucked into the Empyrean “Make me proud!”, Leonidas and the daemon Dragium were no more.
Struck with grief, Thaddeus and the remaining forces of his battle-legion returned home. No amount of parades or praise could bring him happiness. He stood in front of his gene-Father with sadness and guilt. Guilliman shared his son’s grief as he was handed the Lucid Lion that once belonged to Leonidas. The Primarch examined the weapon and returned it to Thaddeus, thus making him the new Captain-General.
“You have the makings of a king, my son. You have grown within the span of 600 years, and you wear the weight of that time upon you proudly. Go forth and make Leonidas proud.” - Guilliman.
The Lion’s Roar.
Having embarked on many crusades, the Captain-General had seen many battles over his course of service to the Legion, and the Imperium. Thaddeus brought entire universes into compliance at key galaxies across the cosmos. Humanity, aliens, traitor, daemons, and gods alike came to know the Lion’s Roar. For many millennia did Thaddeus continue his promise to Leonidas. His life was now normal. Fighting, delegating, and conquering were the stuff of his modern world. Many honors were given to him for the countless wars he won. Whole worlds were made into shrines to honor his great and countless feats of strength, intellect, and prowess.
His Ascension - The Great Sleep.
A great scourge had been banished from Creation. The culmination of the God-Titans (the original Primarchs), and their Father - the God-Emperor - had saved Creation from a terrible illness. As masters of the Creator’s gardens, their job was done. Each God-Titan had to choose a successor to their powers, and so Guilliman brought himself to his favored son, Thaddeus.
Thaddeus was given all manners of knowledge collected by Guilliman. The Captain-General by now has grown to see Guilliman as his true father, and loved him dearly. When hearing the news of Guilliman’s time finally coming to an end, it brought upon a great pain in his soul. There was so much to take in, it seemed impossible.
Upon Thaddeus’s nine thousandth year of being remade, Guilliman was placed within his stasis-casket and returned back to the Prime Source of all power; The One Above All; the God-Emperor.
Remade anew, given divine rights as a Primarch, Thaddeus ascended into great, and awesome power. Guilliman had entered The Great Sleep and would remain at the Emperor’s feet to rest for all eternity. The mantle of responsibility had been passed down as it was destined to.
